Wow, It really seems like just yesterday that I sent out my last email. It's always weird having P-days so soon after transfers.
But it's still be an awesome 4 days! Thursday and Friday were some of the best days Elder Ferney and I have had here in Moundbuilders! We ran into a guy at Walmart a few weeks ago and went to visit him, and he is SO prepared! He didn't have a lot of time, but we were still able to talk to him about the restoration and how we have a prophet on the earth today! He said he was first interested in the church because he had heard about Food Storage! We have these pass along cards with about 6 different topics randomly printed on them, with one of them saying "Food Storage." In most cases it's pretty much a terrible card, but after the lesson Elder Ferney made the comment that "I bet this is one of the first times that a "food storage" card leads to a baptism." haha!
On Saturday as well we FINALLY got into a less active/part member family that we've been trying to help out for the past 6 weeks. We went over in our service clothes and spent 4 hours helping Brother J tear down his enclosed deck/back patio. It turns out the Styrofoam roof is pretty much indestructible without a large saws-all, so we'll be coming back and tying the whole patio to their Hummer H3 and just rip it out! If there's a family that ever needed help, it's them, and we are so glad that we have some members support to be helping us out as well!
Member work really makes missionary work effective. If it weren't for the initiative and assistance of the members, next to nobody we find, teach, and baptize would become really strong in the Gospel. As President Hickley said, everyone as a convert needs three things- A friend whom you can rely on, an assignment to help serve others, and to be nourished by the good word of God, ALL of which require the involvement of the active members in the ward! I'm extremely grateful for those missionary-minded and the willing families who love all those who they meet, and to be those friends to the investigators we bring to church!!
Today was a mission-wide Luau for reaching a goal of everyone reading Preach my Gospel in a month and a total reform of how we do member dinners. One of the Office senior couple missionaries, Elder Niu, is from Tonga, so he did a full pit roast last night through this morning, and we got to eat that, along with most of the day playing games in a massive park in Columbus. It was LEGIT! I LOVE THE GREAT OCM!
Thank you all for your letters and emails! I'll try to keep replying when I can! :)
Love and Miss you!!
Elder Aaron Toombs
