Ben 9/30/13

***Here is Ben's letter. He refers to the touchdown that Nate scored in the football game Friday night. He also is referring to Gary having to walk with crutches for 6 weeks following a surgery on his Achilles.  He sent me 12 birthday cards (a dozen red roses from my missionary) with really nice memories and thoughts about Ben and his mom. We had a new family move in across the street that appear to be polygamists. He is referring to them in the letter. He also sent his coach from Dixie State Football an email and he refers to him in the letter. He also gives me advice for the lesson I am teaching next month on member missionary work.  He answers a few questions I asked him and the last part is a letter to his mission President. Enjoy!***

Hey FAM!!!

Touchdown GOTTFREDSON!!!!!!!!!  Atta boy Nate!!! Matt I hear good things about your football right now!!! You guys are doing so good! Keep it up! The Lord is blessing our family so much right now! I am grateful for you 4 and your righteousness!  It sounds like things are going great with warrior football! That's super cool to hear about how the team is doing! The work is going better than ever! We saw so many miracles this week! Brother of Jared status! I couldn't list in one email just the miracles from one day of the week.

I am glad you liked your roses momma!!! It's the least I could do! I am so grateful for you and what a great mom you are! Keep up the great work! I am glad the missionary work is going so good! Don't let it ever get off your radar! There is no doubt in my mind that God put those Polygamists across the street from you to give you an opportunity!  With general conference coming up much less. Find a way to get them to watch general conference. They have a testimony already of Joseph Smith- They just don't have a testimony that Brigham Young and now Thomas S. Monson have those same priesthood keys.  They will feel the peace that comes with the gospel if the ward shows them charity.  I mean right across the street- right before conference- God wants to show you a miracle! Invite them to dinner or something before! How exciting!

Did you guys (Matt) get my letter with the picture of Joe in it? I mean that's at least worth a comment right? Nate I hope you are having a lot of fun! Dad I am sorry you are not enjoying the crutches! I sent Brum an email last week and didn't get one back- he's probably busy I'll try him again post-season. Did they beat Humbolt ST? What is their record. Football is great. I appreciate it even more now!!!
Gospel is so true!!! Good things for missionary work lesson.  Good material would be like D&C 123:11-17.

Always leave them with a commitment in your lessons. Whether you're teaching a lesson for the first time to someone who has never seen missionaries or to the bishops family, you ALWAYS leave them with a commitment. (see Preach My Gospel chapter 11) You INVITE and HELP them DO. Every time a sister goes visiting teaching or gives a lesson there should be a commitment.

Anyways love you guys tons! Pray for us! Know I pray for you always! Go WARRIORS!!!

1 My health? I'm fat as crap! haha I run like a mile a few times a week and do 5 sets of 20 with like 190 pounds on incline bench and front squat, and I bike around the sweatiest town in America every day- but I'm definitely not the agile leprechaun I used to be.
2. Biggest stress- not being a good example for Elder Harman
3. Greatest joy- Success finding teaching and baptizing. just knock on wood because my life is literally perfect. I am the happiest I have ever been. Truly.
4. I don't need anything. I'd like to know what all your comments are on my letters and pictures I send you.

President Berry,
As you know, we have seen many tender mercies lately!  This last month or so has been the biggest blessing- to the point where you feel undeserving of the blessings and testimony builders you receive.  One of the biggest ones was a family of five who is now extremely motivated to get baptized on October 26th!  I actually biked past two of their daughters on our way to an appointment, then felt the spirit prompt me to flip around and talk to these two girls.  We left them with our number and were surprised when we got a call from their mom the next day.  We shared our message with them and invited them to our baptism Saturday. The family is in unison that the spirit has already confirmed to them they need to be baptized.  We have seen just how much God wants us to succeed.  Trials are part of his plan for our mission, but when we are striving to make our mission his mission, (bringing to pass the immortality and eternal life of man) we see just how badly he wants us to succeed.   There is just a feel to the air when we go out in the morning that the Lord is hastening his work in a very real way right now.  I confess I have fallen in love with this area and these people.  The ward is progressing one small step at a time.   I never want to leave.   I am extremely grateful for the great missionary I have for a companion and the way he grows leaps and bounds every day! It's humbling to be serving at this time.  Our work right now is just one big tender mercy.
