Aaron 6/24/13

NATHAN IS GOING TO COLUMBIA! That is so AWESOME! I'm stoked for him!!

I'm just a little excited for him :)
So first off, sorry for not getting a good letter out last week. It was a busy day. And this letter will be a pretty short one too.
My new companion Elder Cutler is a total boss! He's a confident teacher, he loves to have fun, and he's so chill compared to Elder Cook (who was always go go go go go go stop go go go). It's a nice change, but very different at the same time. We just have to get used to each other's habits, teaching styles, and then build up our unity to improve each other!
This past Monday evening we had a lesson with our investigators Karen and her 11 year old daughter Hannah. Hannah is one of the funniest girls I've met, and thinks WAY above her age. She thinks of questions that most adults we teach don't even come close to. One example was when we were teaching her about the Plan of Salvation, she asked if those still on the earth when Christ returns would still go to the spirit world to be taught. It blows my mind how smart she is. She's got a younger brother who is 7 who is also super smart, and a super cute 4 year old sister. I love that family so much! We taught them again Wednesday, and had a really good lesson about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They've been reading and praying about the Book of Mormon, but Karen still won't pray out loud, and hasn't come to church, because ( is too early (or something like that.) We're working on helping he understand that even though all prayers work, a kneeling, vocal prayer invites the spirit more, and has some effect that we can't fully explain. As well, we're now focusing on helping her understand how important going to church is. The spirit is strong at church meetings, especially during the Sacrament, and when an investigator (or anyone really), pays attention, the spirit can really speak to them. I know that getting Karen and her family to church will help them out so much, so please take an extra minute for them in your prayers :)

Something from last week that I didn't get to mention. I got to go see the MOrmon Tabernacle Choir in concert at Nationwide arena in columbus! It was awesome. Our tickets were the really cheap ones, way up in the nosebleeds though, so we had to take a bunch of escelators to get up to our level. When we got there though, the attendant told us that not all of the more expensive seats were filled, and exchanged tickets with us for the most expensive seats they had!!!! (excluding the box seats). It was legit! The music was incredible, and it was a very positive, uplifting experience. I would love to be able to see them again.
They had 3 encore songs too, but that was a little confusing. haha.

Oh yeah, and have you heard.. NATHAN IS GOING TO COLUMBIA!
:)

I know that this gospel is true. I know that the priesthood authority was restored to the earth by the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that The Book of Mormon is the word of God, written by prophets who walked this earth. I know that I am a servant of the Lords Vineyard, laboring to bring about his work. I am so grateful to be able to do this in this incredible time, where the work is hastening so rapidly and I get to do it alongside my incredible brother Nathan. Columbus and Colombia are only a few letters apart from each other! haha!
Above all, I know that Jesus Christ not only walked this earth, but performed the everlasting and infinite Atonement for each of us individually. He knows each of us personally, and knows everything we have ever gone through. He loves us, He is there for us, and He will carry us through anything we can and will face. I love Him, and I pray to be able to love him and our Fathers' Children more every day.
I LOVE YOU ALL!!

Elder Aaron Toombs
